In 2001, Silbatone Acoustics launched a limited edition reference series, the battery‐powered C‐102
Preamplifier and the world’s first fully battery powered dual monoblock 300B SE Amplifier.
Produced as a test of
concept, the reference series utilized the very finest materials and components: heavy machined
aluminum chassis, teflon circuit boards, Jensen silver foil caps, custom Tokyo Ko‐on broadcast
attenuators, pure silver input and output transformers, and an industrial grade control system for
charging and battery maintenance.
These unique instruments produced remarkable musical sound and
were awarded Product of the Year by several international publications.
Our musical goals were well met with the C‐102 and 300B SE but, unfortunately, the cost of production
was astronomical and the great size, enormous weight, and the challenges of changing over 150 pounds of batteries every few years made these designs unpractical for home use!
